Guilsfield dig out home win

Guilsfield went back to basics with a much needed home victory in a tight contest versus the Islanders.
The team went into the match without the injured James Parry and Jack Harris, with Chris Cathrall and Stuart Rogers both returning after missing out the midweek match versus Airbus.

Home keeper Mike Jones was called into action early into the game with a great near post save on 5 mins.
The two sides were separated by a hotly disputed penalty in the 21st minute, which was converted by Steve Blenkinsop. Holyhead should have equalised on 32 mins but the dangerous Mel McGinniss shot wide after making space for himself. Mike had to make another smart save before the break to keep Guilsfield's lead.
The game continued to be a cagey affair in the second half and with only a goal separating the two sides, it became increasingly nervy. Chris Cathrall could have settled the game but his near post header went wide. Steve Blenkinsop was forced off injured with about 15 mins remaining. With 8 mins of injury time played out, a collective sigh of relief was witnessed as the Guils gained the 3 points.

Team: Jones, Bromley, Richards, Rogers, Litchfield, James, Curtis Weetman, Ford, Blenkinsop, Cathrall, Jenkins. Subs: Clifton (Blenkinsop), Leonard (Jenkins).

Guils' Man of the Match: Robbie James.
