London Scottish v Haringey Rhinos

The Rhinos will regroup this week and come back strong against Watford next weekend in the home tie

Riding high after two wins in their previous two games, the Haringey Rhinos this weekend travelled south of the river to Richmond to face London Scottish.

Unfortunately picking up a couple of niggles and knocks in the warm up meant they did not start with their selected 15, but were still confident of the win.

However this may have been over confidence, as Scottish opted to kick to touch from a penalty and found themselves with a lineout 5 metres out from the Haringey line. The Rhinos opted to not contest the consequential maul under the belief that it would cause an offensive penalty, however the ref did not see it this way.

After this the rhinos would find themselves getting a foothold in the game and then letting it slip with the opposition countering extremely well and punishing the Rhinos time after time.

While down but not out the Rhinos tapped a penalty on the edge of the 22 with second row Olly Sumanola crashing through and being tackled a metre or two short, despite the opposition's centre lying all over the ball which the referee somehow managed to miss, Haringey managed to recycle and ship the ball to the wing, where they were once again held up short.

The half ended with winger Leighton Ball making a try saving tackle on his opposite winger to keep the Rhinos in it.

The Rhinos came out of the fate much more enthusiastically in the 2nd half, controlling possession and territory for much of the half, but couldn't convert in the redzone, sure fire kicker Alex Hull missing a penalty in front of the posts among others not being able to convert. London Scottish still countered well and punished the mistakes that Haringey made, but at this point refereeing decisions came into play and really hampered the away sides attempts to come back into the game, allowing their winger to stand up after being tackled by Goggles, and run through uncontested from 50 metres out, disallowing centre Dwight Caulkers try because he was too far back and couldn't see it get grounded were just some of his howling errors.

Final score Scottish 41-0 Rhinos

The Rhinos will regroup this week and come back strong against Watford next weekend in the home tie.
