Kilburn kicked off the first half, landing the ball in eager Rhino hands. The Rhinos were quick to get into the game dominating the first half with a couple of tries in quick succession from captain, Aimee Foulkes and one from flanker Molly McNamara, which could be attributed to good possession and smart play. Despite the hot weather conditions, the first half was strong from both teams, with Kilburn putting up a sturdy defence but unable to break through the Rhino's solid line. The first half ended 15-0.
In the second half, the Rhinos were now playing into the sun which made handling more difficult but they persevered and remained strong. Kilburn found their stride, doing well to hold up three seperate tries from Haringey. Focused and persistent play from Rhino Fly Half Andrea Coley resulted in the first try of the half and kept Haringey's momentum building. After a quick take from a penalty, Cosmos finally managed to break through the Rhinos defence, putting points on the board and keeping Rhinos on their toes (do Rhinos have toes?). Good ball work down the Haringey line worked the Cosmos defence from side-to-side and spread them thin enough for Back Laura Magill to get her first try of her Rhino career, shortly followed by her second. A second try came from a solid crash from Cosmos which took them over the line. The last minutes of the game were tough, with every player on the pitch exhausted, but Rhinos came out with the win, 32-10.
Player of the match went to Hannah Lloyd-Jones for her relentless work, constant focus and knowledgeable play. Biggest Hit went to Molly McNamara for solid contact as ever in both sides of the tackle.
The Rhinos 5th Season has been a difficult one, with lots of beloved team mates moving on from the area or falling foul of injury but through sheer perseverance, will and teamwork they have come out at the end, finishing in 5th Place in the League, the highest they have ever come. Everyone now eagerly awaits continuing their progress throughout the Sevens Season and building on the team, ready for the 2018/2019 Season.
