Ely led with a goal in the 44th minute, James Seymour winning the ball on the edge of the area in a battle with Sam Holmes, the ball being squared to Sam Goodge 20 yards out and he controlled it before his effort took a wicked deflection off Holmes and past ‘keeper Charlie Turner.
It wasn’t until the 71st minute that Haverhill were level again, with the last decent chance of the game, and it had a slight amount of fortune to it, Haines’ cross to the far post headed back away from goal to Burr, who controlled it 15 yards out and left of goal before shooting, Reynolds going down to save quickly, misjudging the bounce of the ball and it came off his body and looped into the bottom left corner of the net.
ROVERS : Turner, Geoghegan, Fox, Milne, Holmes, Watson, Abbott, Haines (Clarke, 72), Jebb (Judge, 82), Halls, Burr (Micklewright, 90). Subs not used – Palmer, Hunt.
