greens go to the summit

Kidlington’s development team are the new leaders of Uhlsport Division One West. On Saturday, match between leaders Cheltenham Saracens and Thornbury Town was postponed due to health and safety reasons. This meant that a win away to bottom side New College Swindon would see the greens go to the summit.

The match was comfortable from the first minute and the visitors ran out 7-0 winners. This came despite some key players missing with injury. Aaron Morton, Jack Gaul, Jimmy Deabill and Callum Rice were all rested from the starting line up due to knocks.

Right wing back, Jamie Wyatt (pictured) led the way with a double and the other scorers were Joey Cowlishaw, Harley Firkin, Kevin Davies, Jordan Parker and Gavin Kidd. It shows how much the greens have improved this season that they all of the goalscorers were new signings this season. Goalkeeper and skipper Nick Lacey did not have one shot to save.

Team: Nick Lacey, Mark Burton, Luke Spearman, Gavin Kidd, Jack Johnson, Jamie Wyatt, Jordan Parker, James McCarthy, Harley Firkin, Joey Cowlishaw, Kevin Davies. Subs (all used) Luke Hayward, Richard Brooks, Callum Rice.

Next up for the development lads is an Oxfordshire Intermediate Cup match versus Berinsfield, away from home on Saturday 1.30pm kick off.
