Late goals cost Knowle
Knowle started their Birmingham Vase cup tie against Coventry based Christ the King FC brightly with Steven Ruck twice cutting in off the right wing but his shots were just wide of the mark. At the other end the visitors came close when a cross from their right was headed just wide. The visitors took the lead in the 23rd minute when their striker fell over Nick Oakley's outstretched leg in the area and they converted the spot kick. Knowle struggled to respond and they only had one decent chance in the remainder of the half when Gavin Lamb couldn't connect cleanly to a Ruck cross when under pressure from a defender and the ball went just wide of the upright.

The visitors nearly doubled their lead at the start of the second half when the ball deflected just wide of the Knowle goal. However, that sparked Knowle into action with Lamb hitting over from a Matt Green cross and then in the 50th minute Knowle got back on level terms when Yahiya Todd's cross from the left came back off Ruck to Lamb who slotted home from close range. Then two minutes later Knowle took the lead with a sweeping move that started with Callum Ingram playing forward to Ruck whose ball in behind split the visiting defence for Nathan Corry to run through and score. Whilst Knowle failed to create another clear cut chance they looked solid in defence until they were undone by two late goals from corners. With 12 minutes to go a front post header evaded the home defence to bring Christ the King level and in the final minute of normal time the visitors won the game when a header was blocked on the line but the visitors reacted quicker to the rebound and smashed the ball home.

Knowle return to league action on Saturday when they entertain second placed Hampton with a 3pm kick off at Hampton Road.
