RFU News article: Spartans continue to break down barriers

The Manchester Village Spartans are a gay and inclusive rugby club and appear in a news article released by The RFU today, in which the rugby club's efforts to promote social integration are covered. The article focuses on how being part of the Spartans has had a positive effect on one particular player - Danny - and how our little sport team's #Tryforchange project, funded by England Rugby and #sportrelief, hopes to use the power of rugby union to improve the lives of marginalised people from across our local Manchester and LGBT community.

Manchester Village Spartans are a founding member of International Gay Rugby (IGR) and hosted the gay rugby 'world cup' - The Bingham Cup - in 2012. As one of the world's first Rugby Union clubs formed specifically for Gay and Bisexual men, 20 years on they still hope to open up rugby to people who may never have considered or benefited from it before.
