The Spartans overpowered by Knutsford

In the opening game of the season the Spartans tried hard but failed to keep a dominant Knutsford side from running in several try's.

The game opened with both sides evenly matched for the first 10 minutes of the game. The Spartans wasted two opportunities to score. Knutsford started to impose their game on the Spartans and slowly built a half time lead of 19-0.

The Spartans swapped 4 players at half time with the policy of every player / sub of getting a least a half. Again in the second half at times the Spartans competed for periods of the game and had changes to score that were not finished off. Though Knutsford's strong ball carrying and well organised attack opened the Spartans defence up when they lost concentration. The final score 54-0 to Knutsford, who were the better team on the day and were well worth their win.

The Spartans headed across town to Knutsford Sports club and enjoyed the Knutsford hospitality, food and drinks.
