After a good win last week home to Harlech we travelled to Talysarn Celts hoping to continue the winning run.
Lee Moore made his return in goal after returning to the club. From last weeks squad we were missing Owain Roberts (honeymoon), Liam Billington (working), Ryan Wood (unavailable) and Karl ‘the cat’ Roberts dropped from the 16 …
Tigers started the game well with being in control of the game, but with Talysarn playing with the majority of the 1st half with 10 behind the ball and trying to hit us on the break. Gethin Davies, Dave Roberts and Callum Davidson were controlling the midfield and creating long balls on the wings to Tim Evans and Dion Williams. Andy Wannop had a half chance when he broke through on the left and cut in and his shot beat the keeper but went the wrong side of the post.
The back four of Tom Davies, Richard Evans, Callum Byng and Dale Owens kept the talysarn attackers quiet and made life a bit easier for the returning Lee Moore. Some silly decisions from the referee had Gethin Davies on a yellow card from an early stage of the game and he was being closely monitored by the ref for the rest of the half.
Callum Davidson had a half chance when he cut in from the right and smashed a shot from about 25 yards that beat the keeper only to see the ball rattle the crossbar, minutes later he had another half chance and he made the keeper pull of a stunning save.
Half Time – Talysarn Celts 0 – 0 Menai Bridge Tigers
As Geth was on tender hooks with every tackle he made in the 1st half a tactical sub was made with Tom Parry coming on in his place.
Tigers continued to press for a goal it was coming closer with every chance …
60mins Dion Williams replaced Owen Williams
65 mins – a Tim Evans corner was whipped into the far post were a mix up between the defence and keeper let the ball drop to Dave Roberts who made no mistake.
70 mins Tim Evans broke down the right and with a pinpoint cross the ball landed at the feet of Owen Williams who calmly slotted the ball passed the keeper to score his 1st goal for the Tigers. WELL DONE BIG WILLY lol
72 mins – the ever running Andy Wannop was replaced by the returning from injury Gareth Barker
Within seconds of coming on Gaz Barker had a chance to extend the lead only to see the keeper pull of a point blank save.
With the home teams defence starting to crack it was only time before more goals were scored
75 mins – brilliant work between Tim Evans and Tom Parry put Tom through and he placed a brilliant ball across the box for Gareth Barker to open his account for the season.
81 mins – Callum Davidson put Owen Williams clear on the left and he took the defender on and he crossed the ball into the box and Tim Evans beat the full back and made it four.
In the last 5 mins we could have had a couple more with Callum Davidson going close and Gareth Barker hitting the post.
