A 6 goal thriller at Nantporth

By

a typical derby

We all knew when the season started that both ‘Derby’ games versus Beaumaris Town would be games not to be missed and this game didn’t disappoint.

As we had gone 3 weeks without a game and know that the weather in Feb would have been against us with our own pitch we booked the 3G pitch at Nantporth to ensure we got the game played.

On a freezing afternoon the game started at a frantic pace and both teams struggled with the wind and rain. Both teams had half chances to open their account but failed to capitalise on the chances.

After 16 mins the ball was crossed into the Tigers box and it fell to Darren Ishmael who’s 1st attempt on goal was saved by Lee Moore but the ball bounced straight back to Ishmael and he made no mistake from his second chance.

Going one nil down was the kick up the rear the boys needed and we started to play some cracking football with Tom Parry, Jamie Aston and Dave Roberts controlling the midfield. Tim Evans and Callum Davidson working hard down the wings.

On 24 mins some great team work saw Callum Davidson have the ball at the edge of the box and he calmly slotted passed to the Beau keeper.

The Tigers back four were winning every challenge and creating a platform for every attack and it was a break from Callum Davidson who cut inside the full back and put the ball on a plate for Gareth Barker to take one touch to beat the defender and a second to put the ball into the back of the net.

Tom Scorer and Richard Evans were winning every challenge that came anywhere near the Tigers box.
Some brilliant build up between Callum Davidson and Gareth Barker put Jamie Aston through on goal and without breaking stride Jamie put the Tigers 3 -1.

The remaining 10 minutes of the half the Tigers were on top but couldn’t extend their lead,, when the referee blew for half time I’m sure the Beau lads were glad to hear it and the Tigers wish they could have carried on playing.

Second half was a different game altogether, with Beau having the bit between their teeth. Jamie Aston and Tom Parry controlling everything it looked like it was only a matter of time before the next goal came.

Within less than ten minutes of the second half starting we lost both Jamie and Tom Parry to injuries and this seem to give Beau the boost they needed.

On 61 mins a cross into the box fell to Ricky ‘Shifty’ Roberts (Tigers old boy) and he slotted the ball into the back of the net.

Both teams were creating half chances but with both defences working hard to keep the strikers quiet it was more a midfield battle for the last 30 mins of the game.

84 mins – Dean Redmond had the ball 25 yards out and took a strike on goal from where I stood it looked like Lee had saved it but to the disbelief of the Tigers fans is squirmed under his body and over the line to make it 3-3.
With only minutes left both teams weren’t happy to play for a draw and Gareth Barker though he had won it when he beat that the full back in the air and placed a header passed the keeper onto to see it smash against the bar and cleared by the Beau defender.
