Blues gain vital 3 points

By

A narrow biting contest eventually went the way of the Blues...

A second meeting in four days as both teams seek to secure their place in the play-off positions. Following on from the thrilling seven goal thriller at Harrow the teams set about providing another entertaining game but as so often is the case the second attempt sees the game played in a strikingly different way. Whilst the start was ferocious from the 10th minute onward the Met dominated the first half with 5 or 6 chances being spurned and it was not until the 44th minute that Harrow had a shot on target. But what a telling one with Kearney, as in the previous game, being the threat but on this occasion debutant goalkeeper Bertie Schotterl was quick to get down to save a shot on the turn from inside the 6 yard box.
So half time saw the teams go in at 0-0.
The second half resumed business as normal for the Met as they overwhelmed Harrow whose frantic defensive line could not be broken and several clear opportunities for the Met went begging. Then finally in the 70th minute the deadlock was broken as Max Blackmore lost his marker to drift onto a low cross from Ollie Knight and slot home to give Met the lead. So repeat the previous game as Harrow made a double substitution on 75 minutes, went four up front and pressed hard with a long ball game to try to break down Met defences. Into time added on they thought they had their equaliser only for it to be disallowed for offside. And so the Met under enormous pressure held on to earn 3 points and draw level with Harrow on points at 4th and 5th in the League table.
