Classy away performance from Blues earns another 3 points

A quality second half showing from the Blues meant they remained 2nd in the league!

A dank dark January day with heavy drizzle throughout the game onto an already sodden pitch made it heavy going for both teams. A return to his former club for Ollie Knight. The home team began confidently with a long ball game to suit conditions and after only 4 minutes Met keeper Bertie Schotterl was forced into making a top drawer diving save from a glancing header. Gradually the Met began to adjust to the conditions and have more of the game. But on 20 minutes they suffered a blow when John Gilbert was carried off with blood gushing from a foot injury following a tackle. While John was taken to hospital for treatment the two teams slugged it out in the mud with Luke Robertson replacing Ollie. Following a period of pressure and some ping pong in front of the home goal Met stole the lead as Ollie Robinson finally managed to force the ball over the line for the opening goal.right on half time.
Five minutes after the restart Met went further ahead when following a flowing move down the left and a delightful cross from Ollie Knight, Jack Mazzone was dragged down and a penalty awarded.
Mazzone stepped up to score comfortably for 2-0. Met had further opportunities to increase their lead which prompted a triple substitution by Frome who now through caution to the wind to go even more direct than previously. The change of tactics was handled well by the Met defence . The game was secured on 88 minutes when Luke Robertson played a delightful pass through the centre of the home defence to put Max Blackmore in for a well struck low shot across the keeper and into the far corner for 3-0. Met’s third successive clean sheet.
