MK Colts Finally Get a Game

MK Colts join forces to form the 3 Counties Barbarians

Players from MK Colts joined forces with Leighton Buzzard and St.Ives to form the 3 Counties Barbarians Team, all the lads met up at Bletchley Rugby Club on Sunday to play their first joint fixture against a very good, unbeaten Bletchley Colts Team.

A short warm up was followed by a quick introduction to each other, then in to the changing room to get shirts on and back out on to the field of play. Bletchley looked big and well drilled, but although the first 25 minutes of play were concentrated inside the Barbarians half, the dogged defence and commitment of the Bar-Bars held Bletchley at bay, it wasn't until the Bar-Bars were reduced to 14 men that Bletchley finally managed to score. The Barbarians stepped up their game and started to make in roads into the Bletchley half, but without pay back. Bletchley continued to put pressure on their visitors, and this finally paid off with a second score, giving them a 12 - 0 lead at the half way stage, not the score line the Barbarians were expecting!

The second half saw the Barbarians get off the mark when a fumble from one of the Bletchley lads allowed a good pick up and even better run under the posts for the Bar-bars, 12 - 7. The rest of the game was played with both controlled aggression and pure commitment from both teams, unfortunately, it was two soft tries that gave Bletchley a 24 - 7 final result, in all honesty, a little flattering for the home side.

This newly formed 3 Counties Barbarians Squad, (we are going to have to come up with a better name than that), showed great promise, every player playing his part and giving their all, this amalgamation promises to produce some good things in the future.
