Milton Win Promotion Play Off

New Milton 41 Old Whitgiftian 17

New Milton - 2nd in Hampshire League – had to play Old Whitgiftian - 2nd in Surrey League – the winner being promoted to London SW3 League next season.

The game was played at Ashley on a hard dry pitch in cool conditions but Milton were on fire from the kick off the forwards dominating the scrums and using the possession well with their power plays Lee Thomas driving over to score quickly followed by Lewis Waugh breaking through the Whitgift defence to touch down under the posts Adam Lavis added the extras.

Milton then had to absorb some Whitgift pressure, their defence worked well the tackling by forwards and backs effective and secure. Milton continued to play a running game and a good backs move saw Ramon Mallette run round the defence to touch down in the corner, then from another forward drive Ben Russell scored Lavis converting

Half Time 24 – 0

Milton’s dominance continued Ben Russell touching down Lavis converting , then a fine backs move by Man of the Match Nathan Smith broke through to within 5 mtrs of the Whitgift line Dalton Thomas on hand to take the pass to touch down.

The final ten minutes Whitgift scored a try following up a long kick ahead, Milton responded Ben Russell touching down his hat trick try,Whitgift finished the game scoring 2 further tries one being converted.
