New signings further bolster resources in readiness for 2018-19

Developing the squad is an essential part of the club’s future ambitions. However, adding to the culture and environment which has been developed over the last three seasons is an extremely important part of this process. Bringing in players who are hungry to succeed, that want to continue to develop as players and to add their own value to this extremely exciting squad is essential as we move forward.

DoR has been delighted with the way the new players have integrated into the squad during his previous three campaigns in charge and believes this season has the potential to be the strongest group of players he has ever assembled at the club. But when it comes to public announcements, he is holding his cards very firmly to his chest – a tactic that has paid dividends during his promotion-winning season 2015-16 and in the last two years.

2015-16 season, we were an unknown quantity, nobody knew anything about us he explained. “And that worked well for us, because I think some sides early on clearly under-estimated us and we were able to take them by surprise”. “We’ve made no secret of our ambition to try and get promotion this season, but this is a tough league, there are no easy games and we are respectful of every side because as we saw last year, any team can beat any other team on their day. You also need lady luck on your side.

“Obviously, after last season we are a known quantity now to a certain extent and people are beginning to take notice, but that doesn’t mean we can’t go about our business quietly and hopefully try to slip under the radar again. “I’m delighted with the signings we’ve made, they are quality players and they can only boost playing standards. We’ve already announced the return of front row Joe Maddocks and others will be announced in due course. But for now, I’d rather concentrate on the players gelling as a squad and putting into place the style of play we want to implement this season.”

Ambitious Club captain Chris Dale has been impressed with the attitude shown by last season’s squad members as the competition for places hots up. “We’ve had good numbers in the gym, during summer which is really encouraging,” he said. “I love the way everybody is buying into how we want to play and therefore, we are really getting a lot from it. “What is also great is everywhere we go, people are beginning to talk about us, with people coming up to the boys asking when the first home game is and whether their six-year-old son can join the minis. It’s things like that which are pleasing to see.

The final words coming from Northwich’s new 1st team skipper Mathew Poste “The thing about the Leagues is that it’s a war of attrition,” he says. “No team is miles better than any other. It’s about being consistently good over the course of the whole season. Make no mistake, this is a tough, tough league and if you have ambitions of winning it, you have to have the mindset of winning every game.
