Meet The Brods

By Neil Sheard

A woman's playing section is the latest edition to the Brods, and with Ladies day on Saturday we talk to the one and only Sarah Taylor

Name: Sarah Taylor

Nicknames: no idea - something nice I hope!

Age: A lady never reveals her age - 39!

Position: hmm - at the bar usually!

Best Rugby Moment: I haven’t had much experience on the pitch - unless you count that one time when I was younger....
My best moments are watching Curtis train, play and develop.

Worst Rugby Moment: On the pitch - see above!
Worst moments have to be when we lose - particularly to a local rival!

Favourite Drink: Prosecco, Rose Wine, G&T, will happily accept a pint of fosters too.

Last meal: Anything cooked by someone else! Most likely Ryan at the Bott’s or Carol at the White Horse.

Least Like To Room With On Tour: Gareth Taylor

Most Embarrassing Moment: you’ll have to ask Gareth and Curtis! I was equally honoured and embarrassed to be awarded the TL Asquith trophy this year - I was so embarrassed having to get up in front of a room full of people! Although the honour far outweighed the embarrassment.

Pet hate: it changes constantly- currently bad parking.

Favourite quote: “prosecco for everyone” Russ Crowther 2017

Favourite film: Goonies

Most like to be stuck in a lift with: Tom Hardy

Karaoke Song: anything by meatloaf - with me not actually holding a microphone!

Worst Dressed Brod: Laurie always seems to get voted for this but I would have to say anyone who wears sliders and socks.

We featured Sarah's husband Gaz a few weeks ago in meet the Brods and promised we would hear from Sarah, so with Ladies day on Saturday what better way to kick of our weekend by talking to the lady that makes all the good things Gareth manages to accomplish possible!

Sarah devotes as much time to the club as anyone, be that supporting and cheering on Curtis on Sunday, supporting the openage sides on a Saturday or the never ending help she gives to any event the club puts on - its safe to say things like the massively popular Gin Festival, Brodstock and the Junior festival (this Sunday, the 8th, at Woodhead - come along and support the Brods of the future!) would not be possible without her effort. On top of all this she puts up with Gareth, which is just unbelievable!

Saturday is our second annual Ladies Day where the club invite all ladies and girls to join us at the club for free prosecco and lunch followed by some live music (this year by the brilliant Georgia Farrar), with the 1st XV game kicking off at 1500. There will be a big raffle to raise funds for our girls team and doors open at 1200.
