Club prepares for Super Saturday at College Meadow

By Jon Edwards

It’s the start of an exciting new era for OEs this Saturday as all three senior sides play together at their new home for the first time.

The Extra Firsts kick off a massive afternoon of rugby at the Meadow when they entertain Jersey (kick-off 1pm) in their important Zoo One clash.

Then the first team takes centre stage against Clifton (kick-off 3pm), looking to extend their impressive winning start to the National Two South season.

At the same time, the Bulls continue their pre-season preparations when they host Old Beccehamians 2nd XV which is also a 3pm kick-off.

OEs go into the matches on the back of an impressive clean sweep for the club last Saturday – the first time all three sides have won on the same afternoon since January 24th 2015.

The 1st XV ended their Canterbury hoodoo by winning at the Marine Travel ground for the first time in the club’s history with a narrow 17-15 victory.

The Extra 1sts produced an impressive performance to beat Blackheath 2nds 18-13 at College Meadow, the first time they have ever beaten their local rivals at Zoo One level.

Finally, a young Bulls side, featuring eight of last year's Academy squad, beat Canterbury 26-0.
