Honours were even in Ossett’s penultimate game of the season when local rivals Rods leveled the score with the last kick of the game at their home base of Manley Park.
In blazing sunshine Ossett starter the brighter of the two when winger Edgington made the outside break and put Captain Drury over under the posts, Drury added the conversion. Rods however replied with a well worked try of their own and the conversion was added to level the score. Ossett then applied a period of pressure on Rods line which resulted in Learie crossing, the conversion was missed and just before half time Rods added a penalty to make it 12-10 to Ossett at half time.
The second half saw Rods take the lead with a further penalty before a well worked move saw Webber race over, the conversion being added by Drury. After Rods added another penalty Drury made a strong run which ended in him being tackled in to touch just short of the line, a missed penalty left Ossett susceptible to a late score from Rods and after they had bombed a chance to score the winning try, the resulting play saw them awarded the penalty which gave them a share of the points.
Ossett’s man of the match was Fonquerie with a strong performance in the front row, followed closely by Peat and Drury.
