Ossett ended their league season with defeat at home to Hemsworth who confirmed their position as champions of Yorkshire 4 in a pulsating match which for most of the game was very much in the balance.
The match turned when Ossett's number eight was dismissed for a clumsy challenge as Hemsworth sought to take control of the match. Prior to that Ossett had matched the visitors try for try as both sides sought to entertain the watching crowd. Ossett's tries came from Kay who troubled Hemsworth with his elusive running from the back, two penalty tries and a superb solo effort from Karadzic, Drury added three conversions and at the time of the dismissal Hemsworth had just gone ahead 29-26. The extra man proved decisive and though Ossett continued to battle hard Hemsworth ran away with the game in the final quarter with their fly half controlling the game with his place and out of hand kicking which kept putting Ossett on the back foot.
Although the season ended in defeat the second half of the season has seen Ossett develop their playing strength and they should look forward to next season with confidence.
