Solid performance from Reds earns an away point at Hyde

Reds close to ending Hyde United's 20 game unbeaten record.

Ossett Town made the journey across the Pennines to face a Hyde United side unbeaten in 20 games looking to improve in their midweek
2-0 loss to league leaders South Shields.

The Reds were boosted by the signing of Danny South from Ossett Albion who goes straight into today's starting 11.

Grant Black changed the formation to a 4-4-2 with Josh Snowden moving to right back.

The Reds had the first chance of the game when Danny South headed wide.

Danny South flicks header onto path of Kai Hancock who wins a corner. Steve Ridley swings the corner into the 6 yard box and the keeper takes the ball but drops it to the feet of Alex Peterson who stabs the ball into the net from close range to give the Reds an early 1-0 lead.

The highly impressive Big Khamsuk beats 3 players and tries to lob Leigh Overton who takes the ball just under the bar.

Khamsuk again breaks through into the area and unleashes a fierce shot which is superbly blocked by Peterson.

Hyde win a free kick 25 yards out. Paddy Miller drives the ball low to Overtons left but Overton saves just inside the post.

Long ball not dealt with by Issac Assenso in the Reds defence and the ball drops behind the defence Matthew Beadle who lobs the oncoming Overton to even the score upto 1-1.

Tom Pratt shoots from 10 yards and sees the ball blocked by Assenso for a corner.

Peterson with a good defensive header which brings claims for handball from Hyde players, supporters and management alike. The ref waves play on to the anger of the players. Matthew Beadle is booked for dissent over the handball incident.

Half Time: Hyde 1 Ossett 1

After 50 minutes Grant Black changes into a 3-5-2 formation bringing Issac Assenso off and replacing him with Anthony Mackie.

Tom Pratt shoots and sea his shot deflect off Karl Jones towards the net, a brilliant save from Overton denies Jones a goal.

Kai Hancock is replaced by Ryan Ferguson

Ex town player David Brown receives a through ball in the box with only the keeper to beat, but he's given offside.

Mackie breaks from defence and plays the ball into Corey Gregory who switches play out wide to Ashley Jackson who whips in a great cross to Ferguson who lobs the keeper and hits the bar, but is adjudged to be offside.

Tom Pratt is replaced by Sanchez Payne

Sam Wright is booked for a foul in the 72nd minute.

Khamsuk dribbles through a cluster of players and sees his low shot well saved by Overton for a corner. The corner is defended well by Josh Snowden.

Mackie intercepts the ball 45 yards out and runs past 3 defenders before passing to Ferguson 15 yards out with just the keeper to beat, but he puts the ball over the bar missing a great opportunity to win the game.

Alex Low receives a yellow card for a foul .

All in all a fair result and a good all round performance by the Reds against a very strong, well organised side who will be fighting for promotion come the end of the season.

The Reds now return to Ingfield for the league fixture against Mossley on Tuesday 26th September, kick off 7-45pm.
