Wins for Nondies 1st and 2nd Teams

By JOHN BROWN

Nondies 1st and 2nd teams enjoyed relatively comfortable wins but the 3rds lose at Stokenchurch.

The first team entertained Stokenchurch in the unseasonable heat at Bletchington on Saturday. After being put into bat on a green looking wicket whose preparation had been hampered by the weather, Nondies found runs hard to come by. Garry Adamson top scored with 27 before being run out as Nondies struggled against an accurate attack. A final total of 140 from 31 overs reflected the difficult conditions. Zahir Aslam with 3-30 was the most successful of the visitors bowlers.
However, Stokenchurch never looked like threatening that total in the first 20 overs as Arfan Ahmed, 5-25 and Rustam Rabani,3-27 reduced Stokenchuch to 50-8. When these two completed their over allocation the visitors counter attacked and added 54 for the last 2 wickets. However, Alum Mohammad removed Majid Ahmed for 26 to seal a 36 run win.

The 2nd team made the trip east to play Aston Rowant. After skipper Malcolm West invited the home team to bat they accumulated runs steadily and reached 213-7 in their allotted 45 overs. David White with 97 not out, along with Fred Hanbury 38, ensured that Nondies would be chasing a challenging total. Rasique Ahmed took 3-39 in his 15 overs.
When it came to Nondies turn to bat they did not get off to the best of starts, slumping to 28-3. However, a superb stand of 122 between Andy Haynes and Adeel Ahmed completely changed the momentum before Andy was out of 68. Adeel was then joined by his skipper and they saw Nondies home with an unbeaten 5th wicket stand of 64 . Adeels unbeaten 82 was a personal best and a match winning innings.

Nondies 3rds managed to restrict Stokenchurch 2nds to 158-8 in their 45 overs. However, after an opening stand of 29 by Richard Beel and Sam Anand, an inexperienced Nondies batting line up struggled to a final total of 91 in the 41st over.
