Lacklustre Tilbury Suffer Heavy Defeat By Anthony Mercer

Potters Bar 4 Tilbury 0 (Att 124)

Tilbury for the second time this season, suffered a heavy defeat at Potters Bar by the same scoreline.

The only thing the clubs could agree on, was the questionable decisions by the match officials in a game that saw an astounding 8 cautions, in a game that never got out of hand.

Tilbury made two changes with Joe Turpin back from injury and a first start for Harry Norman.

The home side started well with Ben Ward-Cochrane causing Tilbury a number of problems. He had two good efforts in the opening minutes, seeing Clarke Bogard making two fine saves.

On 8 minutes Potters Bar went in front when a corner from the right found defender Chris Doyle who hit towards goal taking a deflection.

Tilbury's first effort fell on 15 when Harry Norman hit over from distance. Adam Vyse then saw a good move well saved by Laurencin.

The Dockers grew into the game and on 38 should have scored when Toby Aromolaran hit towards goal that was tipped towards Tom Anderson, who saw the keeper smoother well.

On half time Potters Bar were awarded a penalty when Turpin was adjudged to have made a foul in the area, the referee waved away the appeals and the assistant referee took his flag down, but then bizarrely changed his mind. Michael Murray stepped up to score.

Potters Bar bossed the second period.

On 52 Dias Fernandes struck the post an Ward-Cochrane followed up but hit wide.

Murray hit a free kick on 77 that struck the bar and Sean Grace to follow up with his head into an empty net.

On 83 the goal of the game came from Chris Doyle for his second of the afternoon when he rifled home passed a diving Bogard.

In the final minute Steve Brown saw his header hit the bar, leaving the home side thick in the pay off places.

The result sees Tilbury drop to 17th. Tilbury welcome Haringey Borough on Tuesday.

After the game a disappointed Tilbury manager Joe Keith commented "We lacked leadership and were well beaten by a very well organised and experienced team"
