First Half Ends Prestons Cup Hopes

If playing a team that have won nine out of nine wasn't hard enough Prestons task wasn't helped with only having eleven players and then putting in a horrible first half performance. In affect the game was lost inside the first fifteen minutes has they fell three goals behind. The team looking like they were still in the changing rooms. With only one available striker Woodford went with a 4-5-1 formation but this allowed Penrith to squeeze high up the pitch and deny Preston any room. Has the half wore on the Ladies started to put a few good passing moves together but lacked quality with the final ball.
Again Preston showed their true fighting spirit and a change in formation helped them push Penrith and cause them problems. The midfield three showing good passing combinations and Jade Elliott showing what great potential she has got by constantly running at the right back and causing all sorts of problems. Only an inspired goalkeeping performance denied Preston and Elliott a deserved goal. A well worked goal by Penrith made a 4-0 score line a tad harsh as Prestons performance in the second half warranted some reward.
A brave performance in the end but they will be kicking themselves for gifting the game to Penrith in the first half. On loan Blackburn Rovers Goalkeeper Justine Elliott was named Player of the Match.
