Louisa Ward and Lauren Fisher play for England under 18's development against Wales Development Squad

Both Louisa and Lauren were involved in the development team playing against a Wales Development Squad on Wednesday night. Playing at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff the girls both played their part in a tough game against Wales.

The England team played a little dis-jointed at times and were second best to a Welsh team that clearly had more preparation . It certainly showed in the 1st half where Wales went into the break 19- 8 up. The 2nd fared much better for England and prolonged periods of pressure did not pay dividends. Wales were far more clinical and made each and every half chance count and moved to at 26- 8 which around 20 minutes to go. This really was the wake up call for England and they started to find their cutting edge that had been lacking for so long. 2 tries followed for England in quick succession with Lauren converting the first. in the closing minutes Louisa was centimetres away from crossing when the centre of a driving maul from a line out.

In the end it was too much to pull back and Wales held out to win 26 v 20.

A great experience for the girls and in front of a partisan crowd of around 1000.

What a great for the girls, the Club and Sussex Rugby!
