Management Team Unimpressed

The Rainworth management team were far from impressed with Rainworth’s inept display, arguably their worst performance of the season, at Hall Road Rangers.

A calamity of errors gifted the home team the ball in the 18th minute, resulting in the dismissal of Richard Adams, deemed by the referee to be the ‘last man’ as he attempted to redeem the situation.

For the next twenty minutes they appeared to have coped with being a man short, and were unlucky not to have taken the lead when a Tomas Poole piledriver came back of the post with James Hitchcock a mere spectator.

That changed in the 38th minute when they allowed Fraser Hansen to pick their pockets, and somehow, he managed to find the net from the tightest of angles.

There seemed little indication of what was to follow in the opening minutes as Rainworth took the game to Hall Road Rangers, but Kyle Jordan’s attempted chip in the opening minute was well over.

The game changed in the 18th minute, there had seemed little danger when Matt Sykes intercepted the ball in midfield, but his back-pass put Andy Francis under pressure resulting in his hurried clearance being part-blocked. Hall Road intercepted and as they bore down on goal Richard Adams attempt to redeem the situation was deemed a foul and that he had been the ‘last-man’ resulting in his dismissal.

Rainworth handled the loss well and in the 30th minute were unlucky not to have taken the lead when Tomas Poole’s thunderbolt, from outside of the area, came back off the upright with Hitchcock well beaten.

There seemed no danger in the 38th minute when Rob Ludlam appeared to be shepherding the ball out for a goal-kick, but Fraser Hansen picked his pocket and drove along the by-line. His shot cum cross somehow finding its way into the net for the opening goal.

Rainworth came back finishing the half strongly with Sykes’s goal-bound effort being deflected. From the resultant corner Ross Goodwin’s effort struck the bar and deflected over, just before the referee blew for half-time.

Any hope that Rainworth might claw their way back into the game disappeared in the 48th minute when once again poor defending gifted Hanson the ball. His first effort hit Steve Wankiewiscz and rebounded back to him, his second gave Francis no chance going in off the post.

Rainworth went close in the 52nd minute when Kyle Jordan’s effort just cleared the bar, but any chance of a revival was ended in the 55th minute when Christopher Spinks’s effort from outside the area gave Francis no chance for their third.

The situation nearly got worse in 61st minute when Hansen almost completed his hat-trick when his in-swinging corner was just tipped over by Francis.

The 62nd minute saw the management team bring on all three substitutes, with Luke Walker, Brad Jones and Charlie Dawes coming on for Ludlam, Jordan and Nathan Modest.

Rainworth continued to have the odd attack and once again they hit the woodwork in the 67th minute when Sykes’s effort hit the bar and went over.

Hall Road Rangers continued to have the upper hand and ran out worthy winners in a game in which Rainworth appeared to lose their way after the sending off.

Manager Craig Denton was far from impressed with the performance and will be demanding a massive improvement mid-week when they take on his former club Worksop Town away.
