Rebels v Grand River Take 2

ANCHOR!!!!!

Round 8 saw the Toronto Rebels scare off the Grand River Gargoyles and move up to 4th position on the ladder.

After a longer than expected warm up, the Rebels got off to a slow start with both sides battling for the contested possession. The boys gradually started picking up momentum, with Fraser dominating the ruck and giving our midfield first use of the ball. Late quarter goals from Fabs and Bridgey made sure the Rebels finished the quarter strong.

Q1 ended with the Rebels on 4.2-26 and the Gargoyles on 0.1-1.

The Rebels gave away a couple of early goals in the second quarter, which proved to be the Gargoyles only majors for the match. After a tricky start, with several unlucky shots at goal, the Rebels regained their composure and started moving the ball well, with Swanny, Philthy and Scuba dominating across half back.

Q2 finished up with the Rebels on 7.7-49 and the Gargoyles on 2.1-13.

After half time, the Rebels came out firing, showing great intensity on the ground. The midfield picked up where they left off, continually being first to the ball and using the anchor perfectly. Heata managed to kick a goal and was unlucky not to have another one, with Buddy adding his second for the game.

Q3 ended with the Rebels on 10.8-68 and the Gargoyles on 2.3-15.

In the final quarter, goals from Stokesy and Bridgey solidified the lead. Due to a couple of injuries to the Gargoyles, both teams went down to 16 men aside. This opened up the game and saw Spencer and Brownie presenting well up forward.

After Q4, the Rebels were on 13.10-88 and the Gargoyles on 2.4-16

The win against the Gargoyles makes it three in a row for the Rebels, who are determined to make it four in a row this weekend. The Rebels are up against the Toronto Eagles next Saturday at 12pm.

A special welcome back to Brownie, who has returned to Toronto. Great to have you back Brownie!
