Paul McNally's Litherland REMYCA battled their way to a huge 3-0 victory over runaway league leaders Silsden on Saturday.
Goals from Lennon Whewell, Colin McDonald and Stephen Ferrigan helped close the gap between the two sides to nine points, with another head-to-head fixture to come in January.
It was a scrappy start from both sides with REMYCA trying to catch Silsden on the break.
Silsden wasted a few free kicks into the box by over hitting them, something which they'll be disappointed with.
It was good build up for the first goal - Colin McDonald held the ball up and fed Whewell who slotted the opener with his 13th goal of the season.
Colin Quirk almost made it two, but was denied by the Silsden keeper, who also tipped another shot onto bar and defence cleared.
McDonald then doubled the lead when a corner was headed on by Chris Lowe and side footed in by the striker.
Ben Morrow didn't really have to make a save other than some good catches from balls into the box.
REMYCA dominated most of the play from the start of the second half, but were forced into an early change when Paul Foy, subbed just before the half with an ankle injury, was replaced by Alex Ryan, who bedded in well.
Some good chances to increase the lead were not taken, especially when Ferrigan thought he had made it 3 only for the assistant to flag for offside.
Ferrigan eventually got himself on the scoresheet to wrap the game up with minutes left to play.
A massive three points for Paul McNally's side who travel to face AFC Blackpool on boxing day.
Thank you to everybody for their support today, and from everyone at Litherland REMYCA FC - Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
