McNally recruits youth to his first team squad

Litherland REMYCA manager Paul McNally has added Max Smith and Ryan Dean to the first team squad from the U18 and Development squad respectively.

The two signings are the latest to make the jump from the club's player development pathway, and signal the club's intentions of growing and improving youth players for use in the first team.

McNally spoke about his two additions earlier today and said, "Both players have done well for the development and youth teams recently, so it’s time to reward them for their efforts.

"They've got a chance to develop their potential further with us, using the fantastic pathway we have at this club".

Gary Brookes, REMYCA U18 manager expressed his delight at Smith joining the first team, saying, "Delighted that Max Smith has signed for the first team and goes into the squad for the Burscough game.

"Although only joining us this summer, he has shown a good level of technical ability and a great attitude in training and on match day.

"He has quickly established himself as a key player in the youth team, and is the latest youth team player to make the step up to first team squad. We wish him all the best".

Development squad assistant manager Andrew Brito-Coll described Ryan's journey to the first team, explaining, "Ryan came to us through the U18s. He had a couple games at the back end of last season and we were keen to get him on board fully.

"What followed was a decent preseason but he got injured which cost him the first couple months of season. He made his first appearance away to Neston in October and made an immediate impact coming off the bench and scoring.

"His full debut came in our last game at home to Burscough Dynamo where he scored a hat trick - the third being an overhead kick.

"We rate Ryan highly and hope he can make an impact - if not tonight, in the future. At 18, he's certainly got plenty of time on his side. We're delighted that Ryan has been given an opportunity and hope more will follow in his and Max's footsteps".

Find out if the new boys will make an appearance away to Burscough in the Liverpool County FA Senior Cup quarter final on Tuesday night.
