U12 Boys Draw 3 Lose 2

By

Report from Woodie

Despite playing well the Under 12 Boys could only muster 3 draws from their 5 games and face a second relegation in two months.

In their first three games they took an early lead and dominated the games only to let in a late goal in each match. Captain James License was magnificent in midfield breaking down many opposition attacks and prompting Rotherham’s attacking moves.

The fourth match was against the strongest team in the league, Doncaster. Despite once again taking an early lead Doncaster took control of the match and finished 3 – 1 winners.

Needing to win the final match to survive in the division Rotherham went a goal down early in the game when Kyle Barker made a good save only for the rebound going straight to the opposition who slotted the ball home.

With James working tirelessly in midfield and Jack Wales up front the team fought back and equalised when Ethan Barren scored. Slack defending lead to the opposition taking the lead again and despite a lot of pressure Rotherham could not equalise.

Ethan Barren scored all 5 Rotherham’s goals and was well supported up front by Jack. Charlie Shaw was outstanding in midfield and defence.

Jake Ward, Elliott Womack and Kelvin Strydon all played really well and goalkeeper Kyle did not have a lot to do but made some fine saves.

Coach David Woodward was not too upset about the final results because the team played very well and were unlucky to only get three points from the first three matches
