A second Bonus point win of the season sees Walden out of the bottom three.

On a bright sunny afternoon with a breeze blowing diagonally across the ground Walden faced newly promoted South Woodham Ferrers.
In an entertaining game Walden were first on the score sheet when after 5 minutes they broke down the left hand side with a couple of quick passes, full back Tom Price broke the line and 30 metres from the try line passed to left winger Paul Marshall who cut inside to wrong foot the two covering defenders to score under the posts. Price converted to put Walden ahead 7- 0.
5 mins later Walden doubled their lead with fly half Tom Hughes jinked his way over the line after a period of sustained pressure.
Although Walden had plenty of the ball over the next 10 minutes but could not add any further points and when they gave a couple of penalties away Ferrers kicked the ball into the Walden 22 and from the line out they drove over to score their first try. 12 -5 after 30 mins.
Although the visitors regained the ball from the kick off, good Walden defence eventually made them kick long from deep inside their own half. Full back Tom Price caught the ball 60 metres out and started to run it back, beating the first couple of players he soon found his way back to the Walden pack and passed the ball to flanker Ben Stapleton who out paced the cover to score another converted try 21 – 5 34 mins.
With almost the last play of the half Ferrers scored their second try again using their well drilled forwards to force there way over the line, leaving the half time score at 21 -12.
The second half started with the wind now in Walden’s favour and they pinned the visitors back who were forced to give away a series of penalties. When one was awarded only 8 metres out the visitors were caught napping when Tom Price took it quickly and forced his way over the line for the Bonus point try. 26 – 12 48 mins.
Walden's 5th try came when their wingers combined with Paul Marshall finding space and a simple pass to right wing Adam Miles who ran on to the ball at pace to go over the line for his first try. 33 – 12 on the hour mark.
Walden effectively sealed the win when they elected to take another 3 points when the visitors strayed offside to go 36 – 12 ahead and more then 3 scores in front.
With only 4 minutes to go Adam Miles scored his second with a great move down the blind side with the forwards breaking the line and getting the ball out to the winger who beat his opposite number for pace to stretch the lead to 43- 12.
The visitors scored a consolation try with the last play of the game to leave the final score at 43 – 17.
Another good performance by the pack and finished off with some great runs by Walden’s backs take Walden out of the bottom two in the league and sets them up for the trip to Diss next Saturday 2.30pm kick off, please come along and support it will be much appreciated.
