3G comes to Shelford...

By Andrew Baron

Unanimous member approval, subject to planning...

Following a unanimous vote of members at an EGM on 25/04/2016 and pending planning approval from South Cambridgeshire District Council, Shelford RFC will be installing a 3G Artificial Grass Pitch at the Davey Field ahead of the 2016/17 season.

The 3G pitch, which is the same as the one at Saracens’ Allianz Park, is the result of a partnership between Shelford RFC and the RFU.

This is an exciting time for Shelford Rugby Club and will make excellent new training and match facilities available to all our members and to other local rugby and sports clubs. In addition to
improving the match-day experience, the 3G pitch will hugely increase pitch capacity at the club and this will have a positive impact on the quality of training and the development of young players.

Work at the club will start as soon as possible and the pitch will be ready by October 2016.

In addition to being available to players and members at Shelford RFC, other local rugby clubs, schools, universities, colleges and sports clubs will be able to book time on the pitch.

The installation of a 3G Artificial Grass Pitch at Shelford RFC will make outstanding new facilities available to members and players at Shelford RFC but also to the wider local community in Shelford and Cambridgeshire.
