Colin Astin resigns as President

By Leslie Gelling

... after 25 years

It is with considerable regret that I have to inform members that Colin Astin as decided to resign as President of Shelford Rugby Club.  In light of recent events, Colin felt he had been left with no option but to resign with immediate effect.

Colin has been the President of Shelford Rugby Club for the past 25 years and during that time he has worked tirelessly to develop Shelford into the Club it is today.  During his time as President, he has overseen the Club's promotion from the lower divisions to playing national league rugby, he has played a key role in the development of the Club's facilities into some of the best in the region and led the complex negotiations ahead of the installation of the 3G artificial grass pitch.  Colin's contribution to Shelford Rugby Club over the past 25 years cannot be overstated.

I am sure everyone will join me in thanking Colin for all he has done for the Club and wish him and Simone all the very best for the future.  There will be an opportunity, later in the season, to more formally thank Coin for all he has done.
