SHIREBROOK UNBEATEN RUN COMES TO AN END

By

Shirebrook unbeaten run was ended at the hands of Ollerton Town

ATT 197

Shirebrook started well with both Declan Brewin and Kieren Watson having chances to open the scoring minutes later Joe Cheeseman had another chance to open the scoring but saw his header fly just over the crossbar but as the half wore on Ollerton began to grow into the game and began to test Saxby in the Shirebrook net but couldn't take any chances that fell there way but as the half was drawing to a close Shirebrook were denied a stonewall penalty when a corner was swung in and an Ollerton player handled the ball however the officials didn't spot the handball and it went unpunished and the teams went in level at the break.

The home side started the second half the better of the 2 sides and in the 58th minute took the lead after Chris Timons bundled Gav King to the ground and gave away a penalty Sam Stretton stepped up and sent Saxby the wrong way and things got worse for Shirebrook in the 63rd miute when a defensive error by Timons allowed Ashley Shannon to run in 1 on 1 with Saxby and doubled the home side lead with nothing to lose Shirebrook began to throw everything at Ollerton and chances began to fall to them with Kieren Watson being inches from connecting with a Dan Williams cross Ryan Herbert also had a shot cleared off the line Tate Clake being taken out by an Ollerton defender for what should have been another stonewall penalty and Sam Dockwray also saw a shot smash the crossbar but as the game was coming to an end Ollerton almost put the game beyond Shirebrook as ex red Kyle Ludlow put his shot just wide of the near post and in the final few minute Shirebrook did pull a goal back when Kieren Watson was pulled over in the box and the ref pointed to the spot Watson stepped up and sent the Ollerton goalkeeper the wrong way end although Joe Cheeseman had a late chance Shirebrook couldn't find a way back into the game and saw the unbeaten run come to an end.
