Siddal Under 14's are National Champions

West Hull beaten 35-0 in Barla Final at Featherstone on Sunday

Congratulations from everyone at Siddal RL to our Under 14's players and coaching staff. The team had a magnificent win in the National Cup Final at Featherstone on Sunday over our old rivals West Hull. A scoreline of 35-0 against a team that have themselves won through the knock out stages, is a benchmark about the quality of the players in the side and also about the coaching team of Ben Jackson and Paul Hirst.

Siddal played some great attacking rugby and controlled the game from the first minute until the last. The pack was far too strong for their Humberside rivals as they tackled their opponents ferociously in defence and gained ground consistently when in attack. Siddal were 16 - 0 up at half time and never looked like taking their foot off the gas.

In a great all round team effort, tries were scored by Harvey Oldroyd (2), Todd Horner, Leon Prince, Dylan Jackson and Aaron Drew. Kai Morgan kicked 5 goals and finished the scoring in the final minute with an opportunistic drop goal.

The team is back in action at the same ground on Saturday 14 July in the Yorkshire Junior Youth Challenge Cup Final, where they take on West Leeds Eagles at 1.15pm. The Under 14's will be joined at Featherstone on Saturday by our Under 15's, who have also made it to the Challenge Cup Final for their age group. Mark Greenwood and Adie Booth's side take on West Hull at 2.45 pm.
