REPORT: Burscough 1-1 Squires Gate

Squires Gate fought back from being 1-0 down to draw 1-1 away at Burscough.

Gate named an unchanged team from Saturday’s 1-0 defeat away at league leaders City of Liverpool. On the bench they welcomed back Dan Gray, Adam Sumner and Brett Dawson.

In a tight first half, both sides had early chance. Joe Booth shot wide for Gate before former Gate winger Jordan Casey tested Ben Fletcher in goal.

The homeside hit Gate’s wall from a freekick before the rebound was fired over.

Burscough took the lead half an hour into the game when former Gate winger Jordan Casey came back to haunt Gate. He was on the end of a downwards header to fire past Ben Fletcher.

Whilst Gate pushed and pushed in the second half a resilient Burscough side stood firm.

It took until late into the game for Gate to grab an equaliser. Midfielder Dean Ing popping up in the 88th minute to fire Gate level and need their losing run.

Gate are next in action on Saturday when they travel to Bootle.
