Young Daniels goal goes viral

Stamford AFC under 11 player Byron-Leigh Taylor‘s spectacular instinctive overhead kick, scored on Sunday has gone viral. Writes John Feetham

Playing against Glinton and Northborough, Byron-Leigh’s dad, Leigh caught the goal on camera, tweeted it and was amazed to see it go viral. It has had 18,000 views and the tweet has generated 55,000 impressions in the first 24 hours.

Peterborough United manager Grant McCann was one of many famous footballers to retweet it along with former Liverpool player, Rob Jones, Ex Wolves skipper Jody Craddock and Tubes from Soccer AM.

The under 11s were trailing 2-0 before Byron-Leigh’s goal turned the tide and Stamford went on to win 5-2.

Byron-Leigh who has been with the club since under 7s is very proud to score such a goal and that it was viewed so many times. He’s taking it in his stride. He certainly meant it.

Player Update Sunday saw three signings make their debut for the Daniels. There are also two other former Stamford player returning to the club.
Bill Warrington Stamford AFC have today learnt of the sad passing of Vice-President Bill Warrington. He was 95.
