Tamworth 23
After four straight defeats Tamworth were looking to get their season back on track with a visit to bottom club Cleobury Mortimer.
It soon became clear that the hosts were going to be no push over's as they had the best of the opening exchanges and it took a gritty defensive display from Tamworth to keep the opening 15 minutes scoreless.
The visitors took the lead probably against the run of play with a penalty from
Danny Norton 0-3
They doubled their lead 5 minutes later Norton again accurate from the tee 0-6.
A mixture of solid play from Cleobury and a flurry of unforced errors from Tamworth saw the home side get back on level terms before the break with 2 penalty's of their own 6-6.
Tamworth restored their lead early in the second period with another Norton penalty 6-9.
Tamworth finally crossed the whitewash on the hour mark as the ball was worked out to the wing
Jimmy Carroll still had a lot to do to finish this he did with some style somehow evading several tackles to score in the corner. Norton converted from the tightest of angles and Tamworth led 6-16.
Cleobury hadn't finished yet though and came right back at the visitors and were rewarded with a good try of their own to close the gap to 11-16.
Tamworth scored next when a quick tap penalty saw Norton run a great line only to be hauled up just short but his brother Leighton was backing up and forced his way over the line. Danny completed the scoring and another 100% day from the tee with the conversion to make the final score Cleobury Mortimer 11 Tamworth 23
