Tattenhall 237 for 8 (50 overs) (Umer 67, Afzal 57) Christelon 238 for 4 (48.3 overs) (Partnership of 194* for 5 wicket)
Tattenhall produced one of their best batting performances in recent times but let themselves down with inconsistent bowling and porous fielding. Tattenhall were put into bat after losing the toss. Reeves (17) and Umer (67) put on 54 for the first wicket in a strong opening stand that nullified the Christleton opening attack. Runs were contributed throughout the innings with contributions from Umer (67), Afzal (57), Dudley (22) and Hassan (16) the stand-outs. Tattenhall mustered 237-8 and must have felt confident of a win going into tea.
Things seemed to be going from good to better in the second innings as Brock and Afzal took two wickets a piece with Christleton rocking at 34-4. What happened next was surely one of the best partnerships put together in the history of cricket at The Flacca. Bajwa and Abidin put on an unbeaten 194 at 7 rpo for the 5th wicket to take the game for Christleton. This performance by the opposition has to be applauded but the fielding an bowling performance was simply not up to first XI standard. Wayward deliveries were bowled on both sides of the wicket and at least 7 chances missed in the outfield. Tattenhall's bowlers must surely learn to bowl at a consistent area and bowl to their field settings.
Christleton got home via three consecutive sixes and Tattenhall were left stunned and wondering what might have been.
