TEVERSAL YFC : WEEKEND ROUND UP #01

By Keith Parnill

A round up of the weekend's action from Teversal Youth.

The Young Elizabethan League for the 2017/18 season finally got underway at the weekend and Teversal FC's youth teams leapt straight into the fray.
Saturday saw the debut of the Under 7s who made the trip to Papplewick for a three game round-robin with Hucknall Sports Red and Long Bennington.
Teversal had a mixed day with a 7-0 win against Long Bennington but suffered a 2-0 loss to Hucknall Sports Red - not a bad debut for one of our newest sides.
The Under 11s were at home to Education FC from Aspley. The home side, making their debut at 9v9, lost out by the odd goal in seven in an entertaining match. The fell 2-0 down within the first eight minutes but they fought back with goals from Riley Walker (21mins) and Jayden Bryan (23mins) to level the game up at the break.
Jayden Bryan slotted Tevie into the lead on 35, but Education FC fought back with two further goals to give them the 4-3 win. An excellent performance from the U11s, and a man of the match performance by stand-in keeper Luke Betts in the Tevie goal.
The Under 12s made the trip over to Basford United Community Ravens for their opener, and fielding a virtually new squad, and despite being behind for most of the game, they came away with a 4-4 draw with a last gasp equaliser by Josh Baldwin. The other Teversal goals were by Luca Davies-Olivero, Kian Jelley and Kyle Saulter.
The Under 13s made the short hop over to The Fieldings to play Mansfield Hosiery Mills. A Louis Hodkinson double gave the young Tevie side a 2-1 lead at the break but the home side struck four times in the second period to take the game 5-2.
The Under 14s were at Quarrydale Academy hosting Long Eaton United, but their season opener didn't go well as they lost out 7-2 to the visitors. Tyler Newton and Lewis Morgan scored the Teversal goals.
The Under 15s, 16s and 18s, playing in the Notts Youth League, have a late start and some of them don't start until next weekend.

On Sunday, we were due to have four teams in action but the Under 14s game at home to Barrowby Gladiators was postponed due to Barrowby playing a Lincs FA Shield game.
The Under 7s had a home debut in the YEFL with Rainworth Juniors and West Bridgford Reds visiting the mini-pitch at Carnarvon Street in a round robin set of games.
The opening game saw Tevie lose out 4-1 to the youngsters from Rainworth, Rio Naylor scoring the side's first ever league goal. The winners then beat West Bridgford 3-0 in the second game. In the final game, some excellent goalkeeping kept the score to 0-0 at the break but three quick goals in the second half saw West Bridgford take the game 3-0. Another excellent display from our youngest side bodes well for the future.
Teversal Under 8s made the trip to Cotgrave for the U8s Football Festival, and due to a no-show from one side, the large Tevie squad split into two teams to fill the gap. One of the team made it through to the quarter-finals before bowing out, whilst the other side eventually lost out in the semi-finals. A great performance despite their main plans for the day being ripped up and becoming two teams.
The Under 12s travelled to Hucknall Sports White but were overrun with a score of 7-0 by the home side.
