First outing for boys U10 B team.

By Mike Rushmere

A visit to chilly Leeds Adel ground for a round of the YYHL U10 boys.

The U10 boys have finally reached the numbers this season to be able to field two teams.
The B team were in division 5 and played at Leeds Adel. We had planned to have 8 players in the squad, but illness took out two, so just a six started. Each game we borrowed a keeper, so all were able to play all the games. The team was also bolstered by two girls, Yolanda and Kate. The boys were Ewan, Oliver Q, Ned and Oliver S. There were supposed to be 6 teams in the division, but York and Gateshead withdrew, so just 4 teams. Three games were played of 15 minutes one way, and the team progressed in their skills as each game went on. As a first outing as a team, playing against more experienced players, it was good to see them continue to battle despite the ability of the other teams. In the end we lost 4-0 to Slazengers, 3-0 to Brigg A team and 3-0 to Brigg B team. Despite the scores and the weather, all enjoyed the experience, and I am sure the next outing will see the team progress their coordination and play. Thanks to the parents who cheered and shouted from the side line, and kept the team entertained between games. Next round 3rd February.
