A disappointing draw completes the EH Cup Prelims Tournament. Our last game was against Scarborough, we struggled initially as we had a very long break between our third and fourth game. We gave the ball away to easily and had to work hard in midfield and defence to start to take control. We started to boss the game, but Scarborough were always a threat on the break and their intelligent use of the high ball kept our defenders on their toes. Jack Devlin sat deeper to rule out this threat supported by Jamie Atkinson and Joe de Winter. This allowed Arthur Webster Jones and Owen Reed to push forward more to support Callum Crisp & Matt Raynor. We were now controlling the ball predominately in their half. We created numerous chances in their D, but shots from Tom Crack, Connor Wilkinson, Callum Crisp, Tom O'Mahoney and Matty Raynor either hitting the keeper or just wide. We pushed to the end but to no avail and the game ended disappointingly 0-0. Despite not qualifying for the next round of the EH Cup, it had been a good days hockey for the boys with lots to reflect on and to develop in training.The players voted for their Player of the Tournament which saw Jack Devlin receive majority of the votes. Thank you to Ellie Skipping for umpiring and to all the parents for getting the boys to the tournament, the next fixtures are in the YYHL Div 3 at Thirsk HC on Sunday 14th October 18.
