Towcester, fielding a number of Mums, prompted for an early KO away to Bishops Stortford.
A strong Towcester squad travelled, looking for an 8 out of 8 win to aid their strive for a league win!
Towcester played outstanding rugby from start to finish! With 8 tries being scored, 5 of those from Captain Kelly Harry! Who also converted 4 of her own tries, one Farrell would’ve been proud of the angle! She was outrightly awarded Back of the Match for her outstanding all round game in both attack and defence.
Tries also came from Dev Wesson at 13 (who moved into the centre from the wing after Towcester’s 13 Gemma Smith took a knock to her back), she pinned her ears back and flew down the touchline for 5 points! Also from Sam Phillips who consistently shows her worth in the 15 shirt. And the try of the day goes to Lyns Reeve who did what she needed on the wing, scoring a blinder from far out, fleeing the defence and adding 5 points to the score sheet!
Backs on the score sheet, but this was set up by hard work in the forward pack fighting hard in the rucks to win Towcester ball. Josie Murray doing what she always does at 9 working hard for the ball. And Rosie Haigh carrying from the back of the scrum, giving the Bishops Stortford defence a challenge! As well as Olivia Burnett, Tows’ new fly half, helping to dictate the structure of play for the Tows attack.
Milly Lee started in the front row, with Steph Eaton falling nicely into hooker and the workhorse Vicky Kilmister at Prop also. A great force for Bishops Stortford to try and challenge.
Fantastic effort in the scrum and in defence came from Forward of the Match Sarah (Rambo) Davey. She gave 110% throughout and set up many of Kelly’s tries with hard ball carrying. Super tackling and her assistance at organising the team, aided the Roses in their win! It Was also nice to see Emma Russell in the starting 15 at flanker, who’s back from injury. Fay Tennent and Louise James working hard in the second row, as usual! Grace Tillen and Jennifer Lloyd came on as ‘finishers’ adding fresh legs to the Tows squad.
Every player gave 100% and stepped up their game individually and as a team. The aggression was starting to show and the want for the win! After 80 mins the score was 48-0! All round great game and a deserved win!
