Towcester 2xv travelled to Shelford in Cambridgeshire but had there first battle on the Cambridgeshire border with the snow falling . Once the team arrived at the ground the Tows received a warm welcome from the opposition and the players inspected the sodden pitches and both teams decided to play and give it a go so the 2nd Battle was set to start .
It didn't take long to get Shelford on the back foot with the first try coming from Jamie Cartwright followed by the conversion from Callum Garwood . A sloppy penalty gave Tows another 3 points from Callum Garwood . Tows stepped up the pace and more try's came from Jamie Cartwright and Callum Jones normally playing 2nd row was thrown into the centres and at half time the score was 29-0 to Towcester .
The half time was reduced to 2 Minutes so that the players didn't suffer standing around in the conditions which had got worse as the temp starting dropping and the rain started coming down . Shelford took advantage of the wind in the second half and desperately tried to pin the Tows in their own 22 but with fullback Alex Chalcraft making some fantastic runs got the Tows back into the Shelford half and with another good run from 2 row Jake Bates the ball ended up in the hands of prop Bumtrix to score his first try for the Development squad .
With players on both sides suffering from the weather conditions the game was brought to a halt on the 60th minute with the Shelford scrum half starting to get hypothermia full time score 36 -0 . Thank You to the players who stepped in from the 3s and those that travelled back from uni to help out with numbers a great team effort to dig out a win in some truly horrible conditions .
Man Of The Match Alex Chalcraft .
