Swindon Duo Arrive

Matt Jones and Curtis Da Costa sign on loan

Wantage Town are delighted to announce the loan signings of Swindon Town defenders Matty Jones (pictured) and Curtis Da-Costa initially on a one-month period.

18 year old Jones, son of famous Swindon Town legend Tom Jones is a former Swindon Town youth team player who plays predominantly at left back and is known for his prowess at dead ball situations. He was drafted into the first team squad at Town despite being only a first year scholar during the 2012/13 campaign before finally making an appearance at the back end of last season against Rotherham United. During the summer he signed professional terms for the club.

Da Costa is a Portsmouth born central defender with good technical ability who also signed his first professional contract with Swindon during the summer and who has appeared in their pre-season warm up games regularly this campaign.

Both were given squad numbers this week by Swindon and are seen as potential future stars for the club.

Wantage assistant manager Andy Lyne stated:

“We are very appreciative of Swindon Town for making Matty and Curtis available to us. They are both talented lads and are rated very highly by Swindon, so it’s good that we now have the opportunity to give them a run of first team football, which will hopefully benefit all concerned.

Tomorrow is an historic day for Wantage Town Football Club and a moment that Gary and myself, who have both previously managed the club, never thought we would see.

We hope that our supporters will turn out in good numbers to welcome the arrival of southern league football.

The club has worked hard over the last few years to attain this status and we are not about to let it slip.”

Welcome to Wantage Matt and Curtis! And a big thank you to Swindon Town!

Where next?
