Hambledon batting too strong for visitors

Put into bat Waverley lost skipper James Wright with one on the board which led to a period of consolidation against good bowling from Luff and Charman. Chris Beanland and Adrian Day put on 41. After this only Simon Brewer and Russell Golding managed to score runs and the
visitors ended their innings with a meagre 140 on this small ground. Hambledon lost wickets early to Litwin and Tempest bowling well and at one point were reeling at 3 for 8 but a concerted effort between P Woolley and J Hill lifted them to 61 before Woolley mis-timed to
Adrian Day for Wright to take a regulation catch in the covers. At this point the new batsman, R Luff, showed his intentions by smashing his first ball for 6. J Hill was well caught by Laura Brewer off a skier at backward square and it looked as if it was game on again but Luff kept
going and with Charman put on 59 to secure the game for the home side by 4 wickets.

The Pink T-Shirt went to Malorie for pulling out on the morning of the game due to a bad hangover, Man of the Match was Mog for an all round performance and the W* Anchor hat to Si for various offences the most serious of which was making the Skipper umpire for too long.
