Honours even at Ebernoe
Hot sun means hard labour
Waverley drew with Ebernoe in a time game. After a short conversation it was decided that Ebernoe would bat and that Waverley would question their Captain's competency and parentage for putting us in the field in 30 degrees Celsius.
Sam "Troy" Tempest bowled well to send both openers back early but losing early wickets did not cause the home team to alter an aggressive approach that saw all batsmen looking to get bat on ball. The fall of the third wicket, well taken by Simon Brewer off of a hard working Troy, brought the opposition Captain, Richard Stemp, to the crease who proceeded to cut loose with a flurry of boundaries. Stemp, ably supported by Clark accelerated hard and all the bowlers suffered. Eventually Pete Brewer dismissed Stemp for 81 before Clark retired. Shortly after Ebernoe declared for 210.
We did not have the best of starts losing Jim and Marcus early. Dan Litwin, playing despite an injury that stops him bowling, batted well before being dismissed. Si Brewer took the opposition attack on and found good support from Tempest who scored a career best 49 before the jug evading. Despite some hard running from the lower order we fell short on this occasion.
(I had a longer report but ****** Pitchero lost it...)
