Home side wins at Bagshot
Hard work under a hot sun
Waverley lost a time game by 71 runs. Waverley opted to field at what is usually a batsman friendly venue where we have chased and defended good totals in the past. As early as the first over a well timed push into the covers accelerated away off the bone dry outfield and down the hill for four which set the early tone as we struggled for line and length to start with. Although we took wickets on a regular basis we could not dismiss Derry until after he'd completed an excellent and aggressive century. Everyone toiled away with mixed results but Andy Du Gay was our most incisive bowler although he too took some tap.
We lost a couple of wickets early but Jim and Si were batting well until they holed out within a few overs of each other. Unfortunately we kept losing wickets and failed to take the game by the scruff of the neck and the result was a foregone conclusion long before Pete edged behind as the 10th wicket.
Andy Du Gay was Man of the Match for his bowling but received the Pink T-Shirt for excessive whinging after his dismissal for LBW. Jim won the W-Anchor hat for forgetting it several weeks ago.
