Sad news: Wayne Powell

By Martin Ellis

Wayne Powell, former Keeper and Captain

We are sad to announce that Wayne Powell, former Keeper and Captain at Woking Hockey Club, lost his battle with Pancreatic Cancer over the weekend.

Despite numerous medical therapies and a trip to a faith healer (which came as even more of a surprise to him than the rest of us), he passed away peacefully at his home in Castle Cary.

Funeral arrangements

Wayne’s celebration of life is on Thursday 16 August at 3.30 pm at Mendip Crematorium, Old Wells Road, Croscombe BA5 3RR

If you are attending, please note the dress code is NO Black, bright as possible, even multi coloured beach shirts (Hawaiian style) ties, jackets and hats . If you wish to meet at the pub first, then please be there by 3.00pm.

Lynn will be circulating further details on FaceBook.

You can help the Wayne Powell Tribute raise money for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund by donating directly to their fundraising page https://www.justgiving.com/WaynePowellTribute?utm_source=Sharethis&utm_medium=fundraisingpage&utm_content=WaynePowellTribute&utm_campaign=pfp-email&utm_term=QvBVVy38X
