For the second week running Worcester Colts were tight to the wire on resources, with a limited squad making the long journey north to Newport Salop.
A strong start by Worcester saw the returning Harry Bridgeland score a deserved try after some neat midfield passing movement. Newport replied with two well taken penalty kicks. Colts Skipper Will Matthews finished a text book 5 metre catch & drive forward effort which was converted by fly half Ben Llewellyn, after a further Newport penalty. making it a three point game at the interval .
Worcester began the second period with a higher intensity and soon started to dominate up front. The pressure told with consecutive 5 metre penalties culminating in centre Alfie Pritchard driving over following good work by the Worcester pack.
Newport replied with two more penalties as Worcester's discipline disappeared temporarily , before full back Max Done finished the scoring with a very strong run, evading 2 home defenders to score in the corner. Newport applied strong pressure in the final quarter but Worcester defended resolutely to keep the hosts try-less and hold out for a deserved seven point victory.
