The Wanderers return to try scoring form with six tries in a really entertaining match

The Wanderers entertained Kenilworth in their last home league match of the season and recorded an emphatic victory by 38 points to 5!

Kenilworth kicked off and the Wanderers immediately gave away a penalty when Andy Reid instinctively caught the ball which had been knocked forward by fellow second row James Priddey. Hickman narrowly missed the kick.

Moments later he was presented with a long range effort which also slid wide of the posts.

The Wanderers retained the ball and worked their way upfield, Kenilworth infringed at the breakdown, penalty; up stepped Tom Biggs but, it fell just short.

The Wanderers were edging the territorial battle and their scrum was beginning to dominate.

Kenilworth's defence was well organised and determined, repelling several Wanderers attacking opportunities as the clock ticked on. Andressen, Fox and Selby were prominent for Kenilworth.

On 22 minutes Tom Dodge cut a great line and took Biggs pass, he was hauled down just short of the line but, Alex Peel was in support to take the offload and crash over for his first try for the Wanderers, Biggs converted to give the Wanderers a hard earned 7 point lead.

From the kick off the Wanderers surged forward and enveloped the Kenilworth player to earn a scrum, several resets later, the referee signalled a penalty but, played an advantage which the Wanderers capitalised upon with Tom Dodge scoring wide on the left, Biggs missed the conversion.

The Wanderers picked up from where they left off and pressed forward, a driving maul led to Ben Rhodes scoring and Biggs stretched the lead to 19 points at half time.

The Wanderers began the second half strongly but, a sharply taken penalty inside their 22 saw Kenilworth make excellent ground on the left before moving infield. A penalty gave Kenilworth field position in the Wanderers 22.

It was the Wanderers turn to defend as Kenilworth battered the try line in search of their opening score. Wanderers were disciplined and held the line with Pat McLeish, Rhodes and Captain, Richard Ralph to the fore.

Turnover and Mike Dodge gratefully put in a long relieving kick.

The Wanderers now enjoyed a good spell and scored three tries from James Aston and Sam Harper who both benefited from perfectly timed long miss passes from Biggs, who had a fine game throughout, and the third from Paul Burton who joined the line to score. Biggs converting two.

Kenilworth turned over the Wanderers when another try appeared to be on, to gallop up field.

Jepps mistimed kick was recovered by Kenilworth and they continued to sweep forward; the Wanderers defence was scrambling well but, Kenilworth maintained their composure and Preston completed the scoring for the afternoon with a well deserved try.

Wanderers 38 Kenilworth 5.
